Thanksgiving Reflection
Thanksgiving day is often bittersweet. For some, it is a time to come together as a family to laugh, love and reminisce about old times. For others, it is either a reminder of loneliness or a love one whose place at the table is now empty. No matter where you land on this spectrum today... my hope is that you know that you have a father who cares, loves and empathizes with you. I know that I personally have been fighting to believe this truth lately but time and time again I've seen God show up in places where I've least expected so I'm holding on to the hope that he will again.
For now, I pray for your families. For those who have lost someone to death this year, I mourn with you... For those who have felt hurt and betrayed by people within your social circles, I cry with you... Take all the necessary time you need to mourn, grieve and be angry but don't loose sight of the fact that God does indeed love you and he will carry out justice when the right time comes. I know thanksgiving is typically seen as a happy time and I don't want to take away from that but, for those of you who are hurting today because of injustice, fear, loneliness and/or death, I just wanted you to know that God is always thinking about you....
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach Godʼs throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” - Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV
